Who are United Methodists?
The United Methodist Church is an 11-million-strong global church that opens hearts, opens doors and opens minds through active engagement with our world.
Our Founder, John Wesley, and the early Methodists placed primary emphasis on Christian living, on putting faith and love into action. This emphasis on what Wesley referred to as "practical divinity" has continued to be a hallmark of United Methodism today.

Who is First United Methodist Church of Cleveland?
We are a growing church, located in beautiful downtown Cleveland, Mississippi, a culturally rich town in the center of the Mississippi Delta. FUMC seeks to minister to all people in our community and beyond, through local, state, and global outreach in a variety of ministry areas.
It is our prayer that you will choose to become involved in the various ministries here, that you would allow us to serve you through those ministries, and that you would go out into the world and be a light for Christ in our community and beyond.
Who Worships Here?
Our growing congregation consists of worshipers of every age group. We have a very strong and vital children's ministry, with approximately 80 children ranging in age from birth through 6th grade. Our large group of young adults is very involved in the mission and ministry of FUMC, and we have a very strong core of members age 40+ who are very active in ministry and who seek to share the light of Christ with Cleveland and with the world. There is a place for everyone at FUMC.
Worship Schedule
Sunday School - each Sunday at 9:45 a.m. FUMC offers age-level Sunday School classes for children from nursery through college age. Several adult Sunday School classes are available, ranging from opportunities for young adults with small children to senior adults. The adult classes offer a wide variety of curriculum to appeal to many different learning preferences and subject matters. There is a Sunday School opportunity available for everyone!
Morning Worship - each Sunday at 10:55 a.m. Our worship services offer the opportunity to refocus, revitalize, and rejuvenate in a traditional worship style. A thought-provoking and challenging sermon from the pastor, a special children's sermon for our large group of young children, and a dynamic music ministry are all vital aspects of our worship services.
Our denomination's logo, the cross and flame, link The United Methodist church to God through Christ (cross) and the Holy Spirit (flame). The flame is a reminder of Pentecost when witnesses were unified by the power of the Holy Spirit and saw "tongues, as of fire" (Acts 2:3).
The elements of the emblem also remind us of a transforming moment in the life of Methodism's founder, John Wesley, when he sensed God's presence and felt his heart "strangely warmed."
